Spiral Classifier

Product Overview

The spiral classifier is one of the most common classification equipment in beneficiation plants. It is mainly used for ore classification, desliming, and washing operations, and is widely used in the grinding circuit for pre-classification and inspection classification.

Depending on the position of the overflow weir, it can be divided into high weir type (FG) and submerged type (FC). The high weir type is suitable for coarse particle classification (overflow particle size 0.15-0.3mm), while the submerged type is suitable for fine particle classification (overflow particle size 0.07-0.15mm).

The equipment features simple structure, reliable operation, convenient maintenance, and is widely used in beneficiation, building materials, chemical and other industries.

Working Principle

Slurry enters the classifier tank through the feed inlet. Fine particles are discharged with the overflow over the weir, while coarse particles settle to the bottom and are lifted by the rotating spiral blades to the sand return outlet, achieving classification by particle size.

The high-weir type (FG) suits coarse classification with overflow size of 0.15-0.3mm, while the submerged type (FC) suits fine classification with overflow size of 0.07-0.15mm, performing pre-classification and check classification in grinding circuits.

FAQ

What is the difference between high-weir and submerged types?

The high-weir type (FG) suits coarse classification with overflow size of 0.15-0.3mm; the submerged type (FC) suits fine classification with overflow size of 0.07-0.15mm.

How does the classifier work with a mill?

It performs pre-classification and check classification in the grinding circuit: coarse sand returns to the mill for further grinding, and fine overflow feeds downstream separation, forming closed-circuit grinding.

What affects classification efficiency?

Classification efficiency is affected by pulp density, feed size, spiral speed and overflow weir height, all adjustable to process requirements.

What models are available?

The FG single-spiral and 2FG double-spiral series cover 8 models with spiral diameters from size 5 to 15, selectable by throughput.
